Clinical EFT for Eating Issues and Disorders: Specialty Workshop

Format: Live Online Workshop via Zoom - full interaction and breakout sessions for practice

Date: Friday 29th May 2026

Time: 8.00am Brisbane Australia

This specialty training is designed for EFT practitioners who want to deepen their clinical skill in working with eating issues, disordered eating patterns, and weight-related struggles.

Drawing on over 25 years of private practice as a clinical and health psychologist specialising in eating and weight concerns, this training integrates Clinical EFT with insights from clinical research, including weight-related intervention trials. Participants will learn how to move beyond surface-level symptom work to address the various drivers that maintain problematic eating patterns.

The training focuses on the nuanced application of EFT with issues such as emotional eating, binge patterns, body shame, restriction cycles, and long-standing weight struggles. Particular attention is given to the complex psychological dynamics that often underpin eating issues, including trauma, attachment patterns, nervous system regulation, identity, and self-worth.

Through case examples, clinical frameworks, and practitioner practice, participants will develop greater confidence in:

  • Conceptualising eating issues

  • Identifying and working with the core emotional drivers behind eating behaviours

  • Addressing shame, self-criticism, and body-based distress

  • Navigating resistance, relapse patterns, and entrenched coping strategies

  • Applying trauma-informed EFT approaches safely and effectively

This training is intended for practitioners already trained in EFT who wish to expand their competence and clinical confidence when working with eating-related concerns in practice.

The workshop qualifies for Advanced Accreditation specialty hours and is open to practitioners who meet the basic Clinical EFT training level.

If you have not studied with an approved EFT provider, you may be required to complete an EFT Mini Course (see below for pre-requisites).

Learn to:

  • Conceptualise eating issues through a Clinical EFT framework, understanding the psychological, emotional, and behavioural processes that maintain disordered eating patterns.
  • Identify and work with the core emotional drivers underlying eating behaviours, including unmet needs, protective patterns, conditioned responses, and emotional regulation strategies.
  • Apply EFT effectively to shame, self-criticism, and body-based distress, helping clients reduce internalised shame and shift harsh self-relational patterns.
  • Recognise and navigate resistance, relapse cycles, and entrenched coping strategies, using EFT approaches that respect the protective function of these patterns while supporting change.
  • Integrate trauma-informed EFT approaches safely and ethically when working with eating-related concerns
  • Integrate insights from clinical EFT research on weight and eating behaviours, translating evidence-informed concepts into effective therapeutic interventions.

Format: Live Online Workshop (note, this is not recorded and you must attend live on the day).

Prerequisite: You must have attended previous EFT Training with Evidence Based EFT, EFT Universe, EFT International, or the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology. Attendees not trained by EBEFT or the other listed training providers are required to complete the Clinical EFT Mini Review Course prior to attending (Trainer will ask for evidence of completion).
